Channel 49 (ion tv on my "package") shows fuzz. It's been going on for a few weeks now. I've seen nothing on my account page or on the Cox home page about a channel reassignment, and Cox's own tv listings show a lineup for the channel. Also, out of those 3 or 4 pieces of mail i get EVERY WEEK trying to get me to sign up for *more* great Cox service, not one of those mentioned, 'by the way, this channel isn't active anymore.' Chatting w/support was futile. What happened to the channel?
what happened to ion television, channel 49?
RE: what happened to ion television, channel 49?
new orleans, la 70119. I have no idea about sub channels. I know that when i go to My Tools and look at the channel lineup, it appears there. when i go to tv listings for my zip code, it appears there. when i turn my tv to channel 49, there's nothing.
RE: Tv
I am disappointed as well, in channels disappearing in OKC if you don't have a cable box. Local Weather, Grit, MeTV, Antenna TV, local NBC, ABC, FOX affiliates used to be available as digital channels. Now the main channels are no longer available in HD without a cable box, and the sub channels are totally gone without a cable box. This would be channels 218,219,222,247,704,705, 712.

Why are some channels not showing in oklahoma city...been a few days now
Without a cable box, local channels, subchannels disappearing in the central Oklahoma area

RE: Local HD in-the-clear Channels No Longer Available - Did Cox "pull the plug"?
Same thing is happening in central Oklahoma. If you don't have a cable box, local channels in HD are being dropped, as well as the sub channels. You can still watch the main ones, like ABC, NBC, FOX in non HD, but the subchannels are gone. Darn, I really like MeTV and Grit.
Maybe it is the processor in the TV. I think it is 2-3 years old, low cost 19 inch.
Local HD in-the-clear Channels No Longer Available - Did Cox "pull the plug"?
Cox customer for about 10 years in Norfolk VA. For the past 5 or so, I've had a cable box in my living room for the main TV, but only basic cable service to 2 other TVs in the bedroom. In addition to the basic cable channels in the bedrooms, I was receiving local channels (PBS, NBC, CBS, etc. in HD). This all changed about 3 days ago. On both bedroom TVs, those channels (2-1, 2-2, 15-2) now show "no signal". We changed nothing internal to the house. When I called COX customer service, I got a surly young woman who was less than helpful explaining that I should not have been getting those channels and they weren't in COX's broadcast lineup. They'd be happy to get me 2 more HD boxes though....
Question 1: Is it not true that a recent FCC decision (FCC 12-126) held that Cable companies no longer were required to transmit those channels unencrypted "in-the-clear", and as such, is it not true that COX could shut them off a at any time....say, 3 days ago?
Question 2: If it is the case that COX shut off those in-the-clear channels, Is COX not required by the recent law change to provide additional cable boxes at no charge due to removing them? My surly tech assistant said that I would get charged for new boxes, no ifs, ands or buts.
COX: Somebody please answer the mail here. Denying that some change was made re: the availability of these in-the-clear channels to avoid providing free-of-charge cable boxes is dishonest. It will also drive me to satellite TV...quickly.

Around your area, ION is on WPXL. Do you have a STB? If so, do you get ION-HD on 1049?
RE: "No signal detected for this channel" error 3.1.1.1
yak@brianphx, it is happening on HD channel 1930 (one of the Music Choice channels). I am in Phoenix. It only takes 2 "touches" to fix the problem. I hit the Channel Down button and 1929 has music playing. Then i Channel Up to 1930 and the music plays.
1900 Music Choice Play is a SDV in Phoenix.
1901-1950 Music Choice channels are NOT SDV in Phoenix.
RE: "No signal detected for this channel" error 3.1.1.1
@ Maven
I good test that I use to see if the SDV server is working properly is to start scanning through the channels starting with 100 and see if every channel tunes in, or if I am presented with an error message.
Perhaps Domino can post how to access the Diagnostic Menus on the Cisco Contour 6 DVR. So you can look yourself to see what the FDC (Forward Data Channel) and RDC (Return Data Channel) levels are.
The FDC should be greater than -10dBmV closest to 0dBmV would be best
The RDC Power should be 30-40dB, greater than 45-50dB would indicate a possible return path issue.
SEC Network on Watch ESPN
Anyone else having issues getting SEC Network and SEC Network+ through Cox? I can get ALL other watch ESPN content, but not these networks. I've deleted, re-downloaded, restarted, signed in, signed out, signed back in, but all it tells me is that I am not authorized to play this content. Even called Cox about it, spent an hour on the phone with them, then they transferred me to ESPN which was also unhelpful. I pay way too much for Cox to not be able to access what I am supposed to get. This is ridiculous.
RE: SEC Network on Watch ESPN
It looks like the ticket that Technical Support submitted on your behalf was resolved Friday afternoon. I apologize that our follow-up team dropped the ball! You will probably need to uninstall the WatchESPN app from your iPad. Then, restart the iPad and install the WatchESPN app again.
When you first launch the app, it should ask you to choose a provider and have you log in with your Cox Primary User ID and password. If it doesn't immediately ask you to login, click on the Settings icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Click on Log In and choose Cox as your provider. You should also be able to watch live on a PC through http://espn.go.com/watchespn.
If you continue to have difficulties, please let us know!

RE: what happened to ion television, channel 49?
Hi LoisLane,
I apologize that you haven't been able to get an answer to your question! To add further confusion, the channel lineup for your area has not yet been updated to include the latest changes. Your January statement included the following note regarding channel 49/1049:
On January 21, 2015, Cox will offer WPXL (channel 49 and HD channel 1049) exclusively in a digital format. Digital equipment (Clear QAM TV, CableCARD or digital receiver) will be required to view this channel. If you have a Clear QAM TV, you will need to perform a rescan on your TV. If you are an analog customer and wish to continue receiving these channels, please call us at 855-496-9290 to acquire a digital receiver or additional information.
Does your TV have a built-in digital tuner? If you haven't already done so, go into the Menu (or Settings) for your TV and run a channel scan. If the TV does have a digital tuner, a channel scan will allow it to locate WPXL/ION channel 49 on the new channel map. Please let us know the outcome of the scan!
RE: Tv
Noticed the missing channels last night. What's weird is the channels are still avail on the older tvs (Sony and Hitachi), but have disappeared on our year and a half old Samsung.

RE: "No signal detected for this channel" error 3.1.1.1
@bryan. I will have to check if Music Choice 1930 is in my Essential Pak. If so , it should not be getting that "no signal" screen but it does. I have now set the Power On station to a local HD channel to see if that stops the problem.
I tried to find the RDC and FDC data on the Record 6 Cisco. I clicked on the big blue COX button>Customer Support>Technical Support>Run Receiver Test (you get a warning that it might take 5 minutes but it only took 1 minute)>blue B button to view test results.
Here is what i got:
Connectivity Test 1. Problems found. 10.1.6.1 possible problem detected. Current value 7.1.
Connectivity Test 2. Problems found. 10.1.32 may have problems retrieving pay-per-view program data.
On Demand Test. Pass
I remember the Cox installer showing me how to get to the diagnostic menus but i can't find my notes. He checked all the levels when installing the Cisco Record 6.
RE: Manual recording feature on Contour Record 6 is balky.
@Domino, thanks for your suggestion. I set up 7 manual recordings using the Select button instead of the blue B button. It is an improvement. 5 of the manual recordings were successful. 2 of them generated a warning screen "Cox has encountered a technical problem .....".
When i was having my previous problem using the blue B button, i would never get a warning that the operation failed. I would just get bounced back to the previous screen with the option to Record at the top of the list of choices.
Domino, i called a Cox executive and recommended that you be given a salary or some recompense for your work on this forum. She said that would be unusual; they already have moderators. But she didn't say no.

RE: Guide/caller id
When i had the "no data" on my Guide, the Cox moderators said to unplug the dvr for 2 minutes. Once you plug it back in, it takes 2-4 minutes for the tv shows to come back on. In 10 minutes to 1 hour, the "no data" disappeared and all of the shows were on the Guide for the next 10 days.
