KipKOn Scientific Atlanta/Cisco receivers with Rovi, you can get to the diagnostic screens by holding down "select" plus "exit" on the front panel until "DIAG" appears on the display, then hitting "exit" again, and signal strength will be visible under "RF network," at least on the 8240HDC I have here to test.
I'm not sure if this applies to the newest models, and it probably doesn't apply to the ones that run Trio (I haven't had a chance to check and update my little notebook of undocumented features
