DVR Software upgrade makes it impossible to watch recorded shows on SDTV

I'm away from home (Mesa AZ) for a while, but I have a Slingbox connected to the video outputs of my 8240HD DVR at home so I can watch recorded shows over the Internet at my temporary location.

My HDTV at home is still connected to the HDMI output connection of the DVR, but of course it's turned off.

This worked fine until last week. But at some time since then the software on the DVR was updated, and now it refuses to pop up the recorded program list, the program guide, or even information about the current program on the standard-definition output because it says the TV doesn't have HDCP!

I understand what HDCP is, and I know why it's not detected (the TV is off), but before this upgrade, even though it was (understandably) not generating a signal on the YPbPr output (because there's something on the HDMI output), I could still use the CVBS output (Standard Definition) and control the DVR but now I can't do anything except change channels on live TV. Since this was working before, I know that here is no reason why the menus shouldn't show up on the STANDARD DEFINITION output even if the HIGH DEFINITION OUTPUT is not to the DVR's liking! This is a BUG in the software as far as I'm concerned.

I'm paying a lot of money for my TV/DVR and Internet service so I don't have to watch the few crappy over-the-air programs that I can pick up at my temporary location. If I can't access my DVR I might as well cancel my service until I get back home (which may be a few months from now), and get a cable connection here from a different provider.
